Was Christmas ever about the time of year rather than money??

Everyone says it has changed and it is all about money now, has it always really been that way...

I love Christmas and new years but it seems to be such a misery to some just because of the expectations of the cost, can it be redeemed as a special time without the money stresses...

what do you do to make it easier...

All I know is, it seems to start earlier and earlier each year!! It's getting ridiculous!

Just about spending time with family for me now - and i love it.

It's been about money for a long time now. However, the only people to blame for getting into debt at Christmas are the people who get into debt. Nobody makes them spend silly amounts of money.

I love Christmas, but seeing trees and decorations up almost 8 weeks before is a bit stupid.

My daughters birthday is ten days before Xmas so buying birthday and Xmas presents for her, is a bloody headache!

I love Christmas and yet i could willingly just have a simple Christmas with just a tree no presents and just have a lovely Christmas dinner with family . I would love to see how different it would be with our own company no television just entertaining ourselves with games .

Vod I love that idea - except a huge part of my day is watching my children's faces when they open presents.

But the playing games bit, I love that idea!

Actually though, we don't have the TV on until right after children are in bed. We mostly play music all day
